Minister Roshan to get support to uplift Lankan sports

Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Roshan Ranasinghe was in London to attend the 10th Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting at Marlborough House, London and the four day meeting successfully concluded last Friday. During this meeting Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe discussed with few ministers personally do get support to uplift Sri Lanka sports.

Addressing 10CYMM convened after a lapse of five years, Minister Ranasinghe spoke of the restructuring process of the National Youth Services Council and proposed exchange of knowledge and expertise among Commonwealth member countries for capacity building among youth and development of the youth councils as well as sports field.

On the sidelines of 10CYMM, Minister Ranasinghe held bilateral meetings with Adam Adli Abd Halim, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Malaysia and Jalil Abbas Jilani, Foreign Minister of Pakistan and Chairman of the 10th CYMM and discussed future collaborations in the area of Sports and youth development.

During the meeting with the Malaysian Minister, both sides discussed the process for the renewal of the MOU on youth and cooperation in Cricket and Kabbadi. Minister Ranasighe requested Malaysia’s support for training the trainers and coaches.

During the meeting with the Pakistan Foreign Minister, Minister Ranasinghe requested Pakistan support for Sri Lanka’s proposal to ICC as well as support to develop Hockey. Foreign Minister Jilani assured Pakistan support to Sri Lanka in areas of sports and youth affairs.
