Minister says SLC has deprived people’s right to information

Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe commenting on the ban imposed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on several media institutions and journalists covering cricket matches yesterday said that the Sri Lanka Cricket has deprived the people of their right to information. Ranasinghe was of the view that Sri Lanka Cricket should have consulted the Sports Ministry before a decision was taken with regard to certain media institutions and journalists.

“People have a Right to Information and the SLC has disregarded this basic right by imposing a ban on media unilaterally. He said Sri Lanka Cricket should reverse this decision without delay.
