Ministries sign MoU for clinical training of Sabaragamuwa Uni students
The Ministries of Health and Education signed an agreement to provide clinical training to the final year students of the Faculty of Medicine of the Sabaragamuwa University.
The MoU was signed by Health Secretary Dr. Palitha Mahipala and Education Ministry Secretary M.N. Ranasinghe.
When providing clinical training to medical students, they should comply with the criteria of the Sri Lanka Medical Council regarding the relevant standards and the Health Ministry agreed to provide all the necessary facilities to establish the relevant professor unit.
The Medical Council, the Health Ministry, the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Sabaragamuwa University came together to discuss and agree to provide training according to the standards of the Medical Council.
On an earlier occasion, Health Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana visited the Ratnapura Teaching Hospital and discussed with the hospital director, specialist doctors, professors and lecturers of the Sabaragamuwa University and Faculty of Medicine and gave the necessary instructions to start this clinical training as soon as possible.
Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena, Additional Secretaries Sunil Galagama (Development), Specialist Dr. Sunil De Alwis (Medical Services), Acting Chairman of the University Grants Commission Professor Chandana Udawatta, Acting Vice Chancellor of Sabaragamuwa University Prof. Nirmani Amarasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Nirmalee Wickramaratne, representatives of the Medical Council and a group of doctors and specialists participated in this event.
