Ministry, JICA discuss power sector restructuring
Power and Energy Ministry officials along with Minister Kanchana Wijesekera held a discussion yesterday morning with the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) regarding power sector restructuring and other power sector related issues.
JICA Financial Development and Cooperation Relations Vice President Dr.Megumi Muto and the country’s Chief Representative Tetsuya Yamada represented the meeting for the JICA.
At the discussion attention was drawn on power sector restructuring, renewable energy programmes, green energy restoration and climatic change. The JICA has made a financial contribution to maintain the restructuring office established in the Power and Energy Ministry for the restructuring of the electricity sector in Sri Lanka and is also providing necessary consultations for the restructuring of the Electricity Board. The Minister expressed the Ministry’s gratitude to the JICA for the financial heads and other support provided to this country.
