Mistress of Makandure Madush flees before raid

According to information received by the Nuwara Eliya Police that the mistress of Makandure Madush who had obtained a lodge in Nuwara Eliya on a monthly rental basis and was staying with several other people, had fled with the people staying there when police raided the lodge located at Magasthota Wijithapura.

When the police checked the lodge, they found more than Rs. 32 lakhs, a 5 US$ note, 91 gemstones of different sizes, many gold items, five mobile phones and six bank books.

A BMW car was also parked in front of the accommodation. As it was revealed that the vehicle also belongs to them, it has also been taken into police custody.

The police made this raid the day before. The investigation revealed that the woman was Madush’s alleged mistress who stayed with him in Dubai. It has also been revealed that she is the wife of the late Kalutushara, the underworld strongman who was killed during a riot in Welikada prison, and had taken this accommodation on rental basis a few months ago.

Even though the lodge had been rented by her for a monthly rental of around Rs. 3.5 lakhs, it has been revealed that she does not stay there more than once or twice a month.

Makandure Madush was caught by the Dubai Police while he was celebrating the birthday of his daughter that he had from this mistress.Madush, who was in the custody of the Dubai Police, was deported to Sri Lanka in 2019, and after being brought by two officers of the Criminal Investigation Department to Sri Lanka, she had also returned to Sri Lanka from Dubai with their daughter. She had visited the Criminal Investigation Department and even looked into the wellbeing of Madush and had disappeared after Madush’s death.
