Monk attacked while meditating in cave
Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police – Eastern Province, Ajith Rohana yesterday said an investigation is being conducted regarding an alleged attack on a Buddhist monk from the Muhudu Maha Viharaya in Pottuvil, who was meditating inside a rock cave.
The monk, who was injured in the attack by a group of people, had been admitted to the Pottuvil Hospital, and later transferred to Ampara Hospital for further treatment.
The monk had complained to the Police that seven people attacked him while he was meditating in a rock cave, and also stole his mobile phone worth Rs 57,000.
