The water levels of the Castlereagh and Maussakale reservoirs are close to overflowing, the engineers in charge of the reservoirs said.
They said that the water levels in the reservoirs have risen due to the heavy rains that have fallen on the western slopes of the central hills in recent days.
Also, with the increase in the water level of these reservoirs, it is stated that the electricity generation in Wimalasurendra, Laxapana, New Laxapana, Canyon and Polpitiya hydropower plants will be undertaken at maximum capacity.
