More suspects arrested over May 9 violence in Weeraketiya, Medamulana areas

Weeraketiya Police have arrested on Sunday another 9 suspects including a former PS member over six violent incidents reported in the Weeraketiya and Medamulana areas on May 9.

“Four of the suspects, including a Buddhist Monk and the PS member have been arrested after surrendering to the Police,” said Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa. They were produced before the Walasmulla Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

According to the Spokesman, Police had arrested 46 suspects in connection with these six incidents as at yesterday and 17 of them have been remanded after being produced before Courts.

“Another four suspects arrested over the same incidents yesterday will also be produced before the Courts today,” he said.
