More than 50 percent of private buses operate – Gemunu

With the issuance of fuel for private buses through SLTB depots, more than 50 percent of private buses operated yesterday (20), President of the Ceylon Private Bus Owners’ Association Gemunu Wijeratne said.

However, he said there was a drastic drop in the number of passengers using private buses.

Wijeratne commended the system introduced to supply diesel to private buses through the SLTB depots adding that it was a step in the right direction.

He said a request has been made to the Minister of Education to open schools as buses are being provided with adequate fuel.
