Janaka Kanchana Mudannayake, a resident of Hanguranketha, yesterday set a Guinness World Record  by breaking 26 concrete cubes weighing 22 kg held on his bare hands and breaking them in one minute.

The new Guinness record was established at Sahas Uyane in Kandy and it was supervised by the Central Province Deputy Inspector General of Police Mahinda Dissanayake.

Janaka, who works in the Sri Lanka Port Authority, has set seven Guinness records before this record and his goal is to achieve 18 Guinness records.

One broken concrete cube is 40 cm long, 20 mm wide and 05 cm high, and they were prepared under the full supervision of the Engineering Department of the Kandy Municipal Council. Mudannayake said that he hopes to set another 10 Guinness records in the near future, including pulling an airplane, a ship and a train by using his teeth.

He is the father of Gamini Wasantha Janaka who passed away some time ago and he holds four Guinness World Records.

The official recognition for this record is received after the Guinness Committee has included it in the Guinness Book of Records and a group of people including State Minister Dilum Amunugama, Guinness Committee’s Sri Lanka Coordinator Indika Jayalath and Central Provincial School Sports Director Athula Jayawardena participated in this event.
