Namal Rajapaksa named fourth accused in Krrish case

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa has been named as the fourth accused in a case before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court in connection with the controversial Krrish deal.

The case is being pursued by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over alleged financial irregularities and bribery involving the Indian property development company Krrish.

The investigation concerns allegations that a Rs. 70 million bribe was paid to Rajapaksa in connection with facilitating the acquisition of the Transworks Square property in Colombo Fort and expediting related approvals. The allegations remain subject to ongoing court proceedings.

As part of the investigation, Bribery Commission officers recently recorded a statement from Rajapaksa, who is currently in remand custody, after obtaining permission from court.
