Narcotics worth Rs.32 mn sent by air mail seized

Customs officials yesterday seized a consignment of narcotics worth Rs.32 million sent by air mail to the Colombo Central Mail Exchange.
Eight parcels were sent by air mail from Britain, Canada and Germany to fake addresses in Colombo, Gampaha and Kandy to the Colombo Central Mail Exchange.
As no one came forward to accept the parcels, the addresses mentioned in them were confirmed to be fake.
The parcels contained 1kg and 590kg of cannabis “Kush” and 601 pills of methamphetamine or Ice.
