National Catholic Literary Award ceremony on Saturday

The award ceremony of the National Catholic Literary organised by the National Catholic Mass Communication Association and the National Catholic Writers’ Organisation with the aim of protecting and nurturing Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage, will be held on Saturday (16) at 9.00 a.m. at ZEDEC Institute Auditorium, Kynsey Road, Borella.

Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister Vidura Wickramanayake will be the Chief Guest and Rt. Rev. Dr. Winston Fernando, Emeritus Bishop of Badulla, Rev. Bro Dr. Pubudu Rajapaksa, Director of St. Benedict’s College, Colombo will be the Guests of Honour.

Under the direction of Rev. Fr Jude Chrisantha Fernando, Director of National Catholic Mass Communications, under the three categories of Christian Kids, Christian Beginners and Christian Writers and Awards and certificates will be presented to 60 winners selected from the creations submitted for the open competition held at the national level.

National Catholic Writers’ Organisation Chairman Attorney Godfrey Cooray said 12 outstanding persons who have performed a unique mission for the sake of Art, Mass Communication and Literature will be presented with awards.

Also, the ‘Mawatha’ Christmas publication published by the National Catholic Writers’ Organisation under the chief editorship of journalist and writer, Anne Marie Jacintha is also scheduled to be launched on that day.
