National Christian Council urges citizens to vote today
The National Christian Council urged all Sri Lankans to exercise their democratic right by voting today at the General Election.
Sri Lanka Methodist Church President Rev. Kingsley Weerasinghe said everyone is duty bound to utilise their democratic right at the election by voting.
He made these remarks at a press conference organised by the National Christian Council in Colombo, yesterday (13).
Speaking further, Rev. Weerasinghe said that the National Christian Council requests that every citizen should use their right to vote in this General Election. Also, he requested the public to vote for educated and intelligent youth as well as experienced and mature people when electing their representatives. He requested the public to pay special attention to the representation of women in Parliament.
Rev. Kishore Gandhi Kumar said that the people should focus on electing those who are deeply concerned about the people who have been neglected and about the environment, to Parliament this time.
National Christian Council General Secretary Rev. Sujitha Sivagnanagam, Media Coordinator of the Council Ralston Wyman and Anglican Bishop of Colombo Rt. Rev. Dushantha Rodrigo also spoke.
