National Savings Bank supports Kumaratunga Munidasa Sisuvarama Memorial Scholarship Award
The Kumaratunga Munidasa Memorial Scholarship Award organized annually by the Kumaratunga Munidasa Foundation was held at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Centre in Colombo recently to commemorate the 136th birth anniversary of the Pioneer Sri Lankan linguist, Kumaratunga Munidasa.
Kumaratunga Munidasa was a famous poet, critic, patriot as well as a writer who left an indelible name in the history of Sri Lanka. In appreciation of his services, this scholarship award is continued for the children every year. Accordingly, certificates, cash prizes and educational equipment, were awarded to the students who scored the highest marks in Sinhala subject in the 2019 and 2020 G.C.E. examination.
Children are the future of our country. Appreciating their abilities is the responsibility of all of us. National Savings Bank, joined together to award savings bank accounts to students who received the Kumaratunga Munidasa Scholarship.
This ceremony was held under the patronage of the Maha Sangha, including Most Ven.Thrikunamale Ananda Maha Nayaka Thera of Kumaratunga Munidasa Foundation, Sahityasuri Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekara, Kalakeerthi Dr. Leel Gunasekara and Deputy General Manager (Audit) of National Savings Bank Gamini Jayaweera and invited guests with the participation of members of the Foundation including Gevindu Kumaratunga. Children who received this scholarship in the past years also participated in the event.
