National Youth Volleyball finals on December 23

The eagerly anticipated finals of the 35th National Youth Services-Rupavahini Challenge Trophy Volleyball Tournament are scheduled to take place throughout the day on December 23 at the Indoor Stadium of the National Youth Centre in Maharagama, as announced by the National Youth Services Centre yesterday.

Teams from all 26 districts across the country, both boys and girls, will compete in the tournament. The preliminary round of the national-level girls’ competition is set to commence today and will run until December 13.

The national-level boys’ competition is slated for December 20 and 21 at the Indoor Stadium in the Youth Services Centre, Maharagama, according to Pasindu Gunaratne, the Director General/Chairman of the National Youth Services Council. Preliminary round matches will be attended by Pasindu Gunaratne and Dr. Prasad Samarasinghe, Chairman of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.

The champions of the tournament will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 150,000, while the runners-up will receive Rs 100,000. Teams securing third place will be granted a cash prize of Rs 75,000. District winners and runners-up will be recognized with cash prizes of Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000, respectively.

Individual excellence will also be acknowledged, with cash prizes of Rs 10,000 each for the Best Setter, Best Attacker and Best Protector. The Best Player of the Tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs 15,000.
