First year player, Right hand middle order bat Right arm medium pace bowler, Safe fielder, Former under 15 Development Squad Poolist, Kalutara District under 19 cricket squad member, Member of the 2021/22 Limited Over Division Two Tier ‘B’ Champions team and under ten school athletic champion Muthuthanthrige Navodya Gimhana Fernando has brought honour and immense glory to his school Taxila Central College Horana with his deeds in the field of sports.

Navodya who hails from Kulupana Horana was born on 25 th June 2004 and initially admitted to Thaksala Vidyalaya Kulupana Horana in 2010 when Mr.Kandambi was at the helm of the school . Whilst at this school when he was in grade four he took part in the inter school sports meet in 75, 100 and 200 metre events and won places and in the following year he swept the board in his events and became the school under ten champion and participated in the Divisional Meet

Then in 2015 he was drafted to Taxila Maha Vidyalaya and in the same year his parents Ajith Priyadarshana Fernando and Nilmini Fernanado handed over their son to the School Cricket Coach Maheetha Madushanka and in the following year he was selected to the under 13 team as an all rounder and his first year itself he passed the 200 run mark with three half centuries and in the following year he scored 344 runs with a century and three fifties and he captured 27 wickets and his team reached the pre quarters.

In his first year in the under 15 he collected 390 runs with a century and five fifties and claimed 37 wickets and in his second year he scored 310 runs with a century and two fifties and bagged 38 wickets and got selected for the Kalutara District under 15 Development Squad and his Master in Charge was Mr.Upul. With these performances under his belt he was admitted to Taxila Central College Horana and he walked in to the under 17 team with ease and unfortunately there was no tournament in that year due to Coronavirus and in the following year he scored 220 runs and took 13 wickets with the best being versus St.Peters College with 6 for 19.

He was selected to the first eleven cricket team this season and in the Limited Over Division Two Tournament they were the Tier ‘B’ Champions and in seven outings his contribution carried a long way and he scored 238 runs and grabbed 15 scalps and he is now in the Kalutara District under 19 Development Squad. As an under 15 player he played in the Mercantile Cricket Tournament and represented the Swingers Cricket Club Horana and they came up to Quarter Finals and at present his school team is training to face their arch rivals Piliyandala Central in their Big Match and the Limited Over match to be held on June 10, 11 and 12 2022.
