Navy assists flood victims in Matara

The Navy has mobilized its flood relief teams in the Balakawala area of Athuraliya in the Matara district since last week (12) following adverse weather conditions prevailing in several parts of the country. Navy teams are providing assistance to those affected communities.

Due to the flood situation in the Balakawala area since last Tuesday, caused by the overflowing of the Nilwala River, the Navy teams are using dinghies to offer crucial transportation to people struggling to meet their everyday needs.

The Navy stands prepared to deploy additional relief teams and assist those potentially impacted by the anticipated flooding from the adverse weather conditions.
