Accelerating the vaccination programme set about by the Government to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Navy Headquarters Hospital embarked on the initiative on 08th August for the second time at Colombo Lighthouse premises. Apart from the COVID-19 vaccination centre on Chaithya Road, the Navy manned 02 more vaccination centres at Elapitiwela Chandrawansha Vidyalaya in Welisara and St Mary’s Vidyalaya, Uswetakeiyawa commencing from August 9.
As such, the Navy medics administered first and second doses of Sinopharm jabs to 13822 individuals of over 30 years, in the past two days alone. Meanwhile, the vaccination efforts by the Navy continues to roll out today (August 10) at the above centres.
The inoculation proceedings at vaccination centres have been arranged in compliance with COVID-19 protocols in force due to pandemic concerns and the people are keen to receive their COVID-19 jabs.
Meanwhile, the Navy stands ready to drive the vaccination programme at the Lighthouse premises on Chaithya Road tomorrow (August 11) as well.
