Navy nabs three suspects with 470g of gold
Navy Officers seized 470g of gold and a conch (Valampuri), which were attempted to be smuggled from the country in seas off Kurusapadu in Pesalai, Mannar on July 25 night along with three suspects.
The SLNS Thammanna in the North Central Naval Command mounted this operation off Kurusapadu. They inspected a dinghy, which left the Kurusapadu Beach and found about 470g of gold and a conch smuggled from the country.
The market value of the gold is over Rs. 9 million.
The suspects were residents of Puttalam and Pesalai. They are in the ages between 24 and 39. The suspects and the gold were handed over to the Customs Office in Jaffna.
