Navy, Police seize 30 illegal e-cigarettes opposite Customs HQ in Colombo Fort

A joint special search operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy and the Police on October 15, 2026, near the Customs Department Headquarters in Colombo Fort resulted in the arrest of a suspect attempting to illegally sell a stock of foreign electronic cigarettes.

Operating under the Western Naval Command, personnel from SLNS Rangala teamed up with the Mirihana District Crimes Investigation Unit to inspect a suspicious individual. The search led to the seizure of 30 illegal electronic cigarettes and the apprehension of the suspect.

The arrested individual was identified as a 37-year-old resident of Yatiyantota. The suspect and the seized contraband were handed over to the Welikada Police Station for further legal proceedings. (Newswire)
