Navy soldier drowns in Hikkaduwa

A Navy soldier who was engaged in training duty at Hikkaduwa Panamgoda beach has drowned on Tuesday morning.

The Police said that the soldier died after being admitted to Galle Karapitiya Hospital in a critical condition.

Deceased soldier, M.D.S. Pushpakumara, was a resident of Dodanduwa, Katuwatha, who was attached to the Navy’s Balapitiya Training School Camp. The Police revealed the soldier is 33 years old and several other navy soldiers were also engaged in life-saving training when the incident occurred.
