NCD identified as main cause of death in Sri Lanka

Non-communicable diseases have been identified as the main cause of death in Sri Lanka and about 120,000 people die annually from non-communicable diseases.
This was revealed at the National Council on Non-Communicable Diseases convened on Tuesday (10) at the Ministry of Health under the patronage of Health Minister Dr Ramesh Pathirana.
Tobacco and alcohol consumption, obesity, high blood pressure, high blood sugar and high cholesterol have been identified as the main reasons for the increase of non-commucable diseases.
