NCPA introduces Child Protection Code for the school system
In a move to create child-friendly and safe environments within schools, the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) has initiated the introduction of a Child Protection Code for the school system, aiming to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
National Child Protection Authority Planning and Information Director Shanika Malalgoda stated that the Education Ministry in collaboration with the ongoing National Programme for Senior School Student Ambassadors, is working to implement this code of conduct.
Malalgoda explained that special discussions are being organized to gather insights and suggestions from a range of stakeholders involved in the Student Prefect Programme. These discussions include school principals, deputy principals, teacher advisors, student prefects, representatives from non-governmental organizations, and members of the Student Ambassador Resource Pool.
The introduction of this Child Protection Code is part of the broader efforts to enhance the educational environment, ensuring it is conducive to the holistic development and protection of children across the country.
