NCPI-based inflation climbs in August 2026

The overall rate of inflation, as measured by the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) on a year-on-year basis, has increased to 8.1% in August 2026.

According to the Department of Census and Statistics, the figure is an increase from the 7.2% recorded in July this year. 

Food inflation has also increased to 6.6% in August, compared to the 4.9% reported in the previous month. 

Non-food inflation has also increased to 9.3% in August, compared to the 9.2% recorded in July.
