Motor Transport Commissioner General Nishantha Anuruddha told the ‘Daily News’ that new laws will be introduced next year regarding nearly 2.3 million vehicles
on which the revenue licences have not been renewed for more than three years.
He said that strict action will be taken against vehicles that have been registered but have not been transferred or renewed for more than three years.
He also said that out of the 8.3 million vehicles registered all over the country, only 5.5 million vehicles have renewed its revenue licences. He said that investigations will be done by a committee made up of senior officials and that prompt action will be taken in 2024 in relation to those vehicles.
