Newly Pass Out Elite SF Graduates Joined with Fraternity of Worries to Adorn the Army & Strengthen National Security

Special Forces Training School (SFTS) at Maduruoya adorned ceremonial garbs on 21 October 2023, Saturday morning and inducted well-trained Seven more Officers and 113 Other Ranks of the elite Special Forces (SF) who followed the intensive nine-month long Basic Training Course No-54.

The eventful passing out parade (POP) of the best of the best and its ceremonials, assumed greater significance with the arrival of Major General JPC Peiris RWP RSP ndc, Colonel of the Regiment SF and GOC 57 Infantry Division as the Chief Guest. Brigadier RPS Presad RWP RSP USP, the Center Commandant SF, together with Colonel DS Horawalavithana WWV RWP RSP, Commandant, SFTS received warmly and invited the Chief Guest to review the Guard Turnout at the entrance to the SFTS.

The Chief Guest was then invited to review the parade and receive the salute of those SF undergraduates who would not hereafter hesitate to go where other troops fear to tread, scoping out potential threats, taking out strategic targets, and conducting daring rescue missions.

The Chief Instructor- SFTS, Major MLD Warnasiri WWV RWP RSP USP was the parade commander of the colorful passing out parade (POP), and the Senior Instructor-SFTS Major RMA Rathnayake RWP RSP USP psc was the Second in Command of the parade.

Second Lieutenant IKGSD Bandara was rewarded as the best in physical fitness in the course. Best Shooter award in the Course was presented to Second Lieutenant HMS Thushan. Awards for the best student in Tactics in the courses went to Second Lieutenant IKGSD Bandara. Second Lieutenant RWDS Walikubura was rewarded as the best student of the course.

Special Band display, Sky Divers display of skills, SF skills display, Combat Riders display plus Urban Fighters Direct Action Display, Krav Maga and Unarmed Combat Fighting took the center stage adding colour and variety afterwards as entertaining features before the proceedings reached culmination.

Major General HDWKN Eriyagama RWP RSP, Major General RMM Ranasingha WWV RWP RSP, Major General KVNP Premarathna RSP USP psc, Major General MTI Mahalekam WWV RWP RSP ndu psc, Major General WMPM Wijesooriya RWP RSP USP and Brigadier MPKL Amarasinghe WWV RWP RSP participated for the ceremony as distinguished guests.
