NIC number to be included in Birth Certificate of children

The Department of Registration of Persons has decided to include the National Identification Card (NIC) number in the Birth Certificate issued to children born in this country.

The a pilot project of the programme was implemented yesterday (01). This pilot project is being implemented at the regional secretariats of Gampaha, Dehiwala, Haguranketha, Kurunegala, Ratnapura and Tamankaduwa.

The Department said that when a request is made from the Department of Registration of Persons to obtain a National Identity Card after reaching the age of 15, the National Identity Card will be issued according to the relevant number.
