Ninety four suspects sued for selling, brewing illicit liquor, narcotics

Batticaloa District Excise Superintendent S. Ranjan said that 94 cases have been filed against alleged illicit brewers and narcotic dealers in the Valaichchenai, Vakarai, Chenkalady and Kiran Secretarial Divisions in the Batticaloa District.
Of the 94 suspects, 47 had been arrested for selling illicit liquor, 12 for distilling illicit liquor, 11 for selling beer illegally and four for selling toddy illegally. Sixteen illicit distilleries had also been rounded up.
Under the Excise Superintendent, Batticaloa Excise Department OIC Newton Outschoon and his officers conducted the raids.
