Sri Lanka Rugby held a media briefing at Hotel Ramada to reveal the partnership of new sponsor Nippon Paint Company, which is over 140 years in existence globally, will support Sri Lanka rugby.
Speaking to the media, President of Sri Lanka Rugby Rizly Illyas said “Nippon Paint readily accepted my invitation to sponsor and support Sri Lanka rugby at a time when Sri Lanka is beginning to emerge out of lock-downs and economic hardship.
Hence I’m eternally grateful to the sponsor Nippon Paint and Nemantha- who is our own Peterson Sports Club past player along with Dinesh Dilhan (Business Development Manager- Nippon Paint) and really looking forward to carrying on this partnership for the long term.
Nemantha Abeysinghe the General Manager of Nippon Paint who is also a past rugby player of Mahanama College Colombo cum Peterson Sports club said “We are a global company with the mother company based in Japan and the existence of over 140 years, therefore we look forward to supporting cricket and motor Racing before but thought why not support Sri Lanka rugby to reach higher levels, since Rugby in Sri Lanka is very popular and also in existence for over 140 years”.
“I have been a past rugby player myself and to support the sport of rugby in the country is our goal. When Illyas came up with the idea, we thought why not support rugby this time” said Abeysinghe.
