Nipuni Sandunika a fine all rounder from Poramadulla Central
She started her cricket career in the year 2015 and in her first appearance against St.Anthonys’ Girls School,Katugastota claimed three wickets for thirty runs in a traditional Cricket Match but she was on the losing side. In 2016 she showed vast improvement at the Nuwara Eliya zonal Cricket tournament and her best performance as an all-rounder was scoring a hard hit of Forty four runs with three Sixes and three Fours and bagging four wickets for twenty five runs against Padiyapelella Maha Vidyalaya.
At the Zonal tournament in the year 2018 Nipuni scored fifty runs against Gamini Vidyalaya as her highest score in the match and she bagged Five wickets for thirty five Runs. In the year 2019 she improved her form as an all-rounder and as a leading Bowler she scored 150 runs in four matches, claiming twenty three wickets,her highest being scoring Fifty eight against Vidyakara Vidyalaya and her best bowling feat was claiming Five wickets for thirty five runs against Padiyapelella M.V. at a Zonal Cricket tournament.
She was selected to the District Womens’ Cricket team under the captaincy of Jeewanthi Indunil as the first cricketer from Poramadulla Central to achieve this feat. Her other team members were Kokila Abeysundera, Tharushi Thathsarani and Ashara Gunathillake to name a few and they were coached by Jagath Wasantha, the District coach of Nuwara Eliya. They played against Kandy District and lost but Nipuni bowled best for the team to claim three wickets for fifty Runs with her left Arm medium pace bowling.
In the year 2020 she joined the Cricket Academy of the Pallekelle Cricket Stadium run by Sripali Weerakkody and she is attending cricket practices on week-ends under the Coaching of Samantha Dikkumbula, a qualified Cricket coach. Her intention is to continue cricket to be a National level player.
