Nirmala Jayasinghe the veteran table tennis player

38 year old Nirmala Jayasinghe , an old boy of Vidyartha College,Kandy is one of the most experienced Table Tennis players as well as an outstanding Level Two Table Tennis Coach. Nirmala started table tennis under the coaching of Buddhika Dikkumbura and C.P.Liyanage at the age of Eight years in the year 1991

He was the School Singles TT Champion from under 10 to under 19 age category before becoming the National Men’s Singles champion in 2012. In addition he was the National Singles Runner-up in Table Tennis in 2005, 2011, 2014 and 2017.

He became Open Singles TT Champion on several occasions in the year 2012 and he won the Best Table Tennis player’s award in 2010 at the National Sports Festival. In 2012 he was a member of the Sri Lanka TT team which won a Bronze Medal at the 51st World TT Tournament held in Dortmund, Germany Nirmala represented Sri lanka at the Lusofonia Games held in Goa India in 2014 and won a Bronze Medal for the Sri lanka TT team. In 2016 at the South Asian Games in Guwahati, India the TT team won a Silver Medal and he was a member of that TT team. Apart from that he won a Bronze Medal for the TT team in Doubles event at South Asian Games

Nirmala led the Sri lanka Table Tennis team on Three Foreign tours to the Commonwealth Championship held in Surat, India in 2015, World Championship Tour in China in 2015 and South Asian Games tour to Nepal in 2019.

Altogether he has represented Sri Lanka in Table Tennis from 2010 to 2020 and for local TT games of the Central Province Championship from 1998 to 2020 for 21 years.

At present he is employed at MAS Intimates (Pvt.)Ltd. as a Senior Executive and he is the Mercantile TT Champion in League and Knock-out Championships since 2015 and at present he has started coaching table tennis as a Level Two Coach.
