No Coal shortages for this season

Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera has stated via a Twitter message that there are enough coal stocks in the country contrary to the speculations by the CEB Unions and Media.

He made this statement by making references to the fact that coal shipments that were due are currently being unloaded or scheduled to arrive within the next few weeks.

According to the Minister, 23rd Cargo is currently being unloaded, 24th-26th cargo has already arrived at Puttlam and is awaiting to be unloaded. 27th-29th cargo is nominated to arrive before 1st May.

Minister has further stated that coal required to operate Norochcholai at full capacity as per CEB forecasts for this season.
