No increase in Litro Gas despite world price surge – Chairman
Litro Gas has decided not to increase the prices of domestics gas cylinders despite the price hike of liquefied petroleum (LP) Gas in the world market. However Litro Gas Chairman Muditha Peiris earlier this week said that the prices of domestic LP gas cylinders would be increased by yesterday (4) parallel to the price hike in the world market as part of the monthly price revision based on the pricing formula.
However, he said yesterday that prices of LP gas cylinders will not be increased despite the price hike in the world market as the company decided to continue with the present prices. Peiris said the price of a metric tonne of LP gas in the world market has increased by more than US$ 85 from the recent price revision. Accordingly, the price increase of a 12.5kg LP gas cylinder with the pricing formula would be Rs.470.
Litro Gas has announced four consecutive price reductions and with the recent gas price revision carried out on July 5, the price of a 12.5kg cylinder was brought down to Rs.2,892 and a 5kg cylinder to Rs.1,198.
