No room for business contractors in SJB – Sajith

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said members who wish to be elected to Local Government institutions as members should have good conduct and follow the Code of Ethics.

Addressing a public meeting at Morawaka, the Opposition Leader said the new Local Government members institutions will not be allowed to undertake contracts for Government development projects.

He said the elected members will be prohibited to undertake any Government contracts even using the names of their kith and kin, since the party will personally attend to all contracts in a transparent manner.

He said that candidates contesting the Local Government election with the intention of doing business and earning money from Government projects will not be accepted by the SJB under any circumstances.

“There is no room in the SJB for contractors to steal public funds from State sponsored development projects as our aim is to spend the taxpayers’ money in a methodical manner,” he said.
