NPP cruises to victory at Elpitiya PS polls

The National People’s Power (NPP) or Jathika Jana Balawegaya recorded a resounding victory at the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha Election held on Saturday (26). The NPP secured 17,295 votes, winning 15 seats out of the total 30.

The second placed Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) was only able to get 7,924 votes and six seats.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), which received 3,597 votes, won three seats and the People’s Alliance, which received 2612 votes, won two seats. The NPP won one seat with 521 votes, the People’s United Freedom Alliance one seat with 1,350 votes and the Independent Group two seats with 2,568 votes. The total voter turnout was 36,825 out of 55,643 registered voters and 520 votes were rejected.
