NZ High Commissioner-designate visits Sri Lanka Rugby Office

Michael Appleton, New Zealand’s High Commissioner-designate for Sri Lanka, made a cordial visit to Sri Lanka Rugby with New Zealand’s Honorary Consul Senaka Silva last afternoon.

The President of Sri Lanka Rugby, Rizly Illyas welcomed him and shared a detailed Presentation about Sri Lanka Rugby’s Strategic Plan for 2021-2024 which highlighted the short and long term goals along with the development plans for the future. He also stated that the vaccination drive whic got underway last week for all the Rugby players and plans to conduct the Inter Club Rugby Sevens tournament in Mid October this year.

In the meeting which lasted one hour, Appleton said he was interested to see the sport being promoted in Sri Lanka and was keen to see the progress of the Sri Lankan team in coming years.

Silva stressed his solidarity with Sri Lanka’s Rugby aspirations for the future.
