Old revolver found in Badulla estate
The Badulla Police said that an ownerless revolver made in a foreign country and a stock of ammunition hidden in the trunk of a mara tree in the Badulla Glenpin estate were seized yesterday (28) afternoon.
Officers from Badulla Police’s Criminal Investigation Department went to Badulla Glenpin estate and conducted this raid and found the revolver and ammunition hidden in a polythene bag in a tea estate.
Police said that when this revolver, manufactured in a foreign country, was found rusted and contained 437 milligrams of ammunition.
A senior police officer said that investigations are being carried out to find out if the revolver was hidden by someone after committing a crime or was planning on committing a crime using it.
Badulla Headquarters Chief Inspector T.M. Ratnayake and officers are conducting further investigations.
