One dead, 4 injured as drunken car driver rams into several vehicles

One person died and four others were injured when a drunk car driver rammed into several vehicles at Embilipitiya yesterday evening.

A car driving from Ratnapura towards Embilipitiya collided with a motorcycle, a three-wheeler and hit a woman pedestrian before going onto collide with another car and two three-wheelers, police said.

A motorcyclist, a son and father who were traveling in a three-wheeler and the woman pedestrian were injured.

The father had died after being admitted to the hospital. The deceased is a 73 year old resident of Kolambage Ara. The 30 year old male driver of the car has been arrested. He is a resident of Tissamaharama.

Police investigations have revealed that two other people were traveling in the car with the suspect and the suspect was under the influence of liquor.

Embilipitiya Police are conducting further investigations.
