One dead in long running feud in Mawathagama

A long-running dispute between two groups turned into a clash in the Maswewa area in Mawathagama, resulting in the death of a person yesterday.

Another injured person is being treated at Kurunegala Hospital, hospital information said. The Mawathagama Police said that this incident took place on Monday (11).The deceased person is a 24-year-old youth residing in Maswewa, Pilassa.

Police have detained seven individuals in connection with this death as of yesterday (12), and investigations are underway to apprehend the other suspects, a senior Police official said. Police information revealed that with this death, security has been increased to cover several villages in Mawathagama with the help of the Special Task Force.
