One killed, 30 injured in Meegahakivula bus plunge

One person was killed and 30 others were injured after an SLTB bus fell down a precipice in Yodha Ulpatha, Meegahakivula area in Badulla yesterday (20) morning, Police said.

An elderly woman who was travelling inside the bus succumbed to death as a result of the fatal accident, Police sources said.

The bus which was packed with passengers, overturned and went about 40 feet down a cliff.The injured individuals have been taken to Meegahakivula Hospital, with eight people in critical condition who were transferred to Badulla General Hospital.

Badulla Police are carrying out further investigations.
