Onrey Perera

He was born on 13th December 2002 and admitted to the school in 2008. He commenced karate under M. Chamil and in the same year he won Golds in Kata and Kumite in the divisional and district but he got a Bronze at the provincial tournament and in the Sri Lanka Karate Nationals he received a Silver and in the following year at the youth, divisional, district and provincial he won Golds.

In the mean time school cricket coach D. Kolitha organized a cricket tournament and in that competition he selected Onrey to the under 13 Division Three Cricket Team and his parents Alloysius Perera and Aruni Perera noticing that their son’s forte is cricket they handed over their son to the school cricket coaches S. Rashmika and R. Sisira and Onrey went on to represent the under 13 team for two years in his first year in the under 15 he scored 367 runs with a half century and in his second year he passed the 200 run mark with a century and a fifty. But he was not selected for the Prima Cup.

He was the Vice Captain of the under 13, 15 and under 19 teams from time to time and finally in 2020/21 season and in the under 19 inter schools knockout limited over tournament organized by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association in five matches he notched up 335 runs with two centuries versus Science College Mt. Lavinia and against Defence College Colombo

Thus he became the first ever cricketer from his school to score a century and set a another record for scoring two successive centuries. His coach is Niroshan de Silva and the Master in Charge is Rev. Brother Sulaj and the Prefect of Game is Mr. Pramosith and the Principal is Rev. Brother Sunanda and he is always supportive to cricket.
