Opening hours of liquor stores REVISED

An extraordinary excise gazette notification (03/2023) has been issued regarding the revised opening hours and closing hours of liquor shops and bars in Sri Lanka.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has issued this announcement in terms of the powers vested under Section 32, Sub section 1 of the Excise Ordinance Act (Which was the 52nd Authority).

The revised operating times are effective from tomorrow (09) according to the gazette notification issued by the President.

The bar opening times of Tourist Board approved 3 stars and above hotels with FL7 and FL8 liquor licenses have been revised from 10.00 am to 02.00 am.

Foreign liquor wine shops with FL4 liquor licenses will be open from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm.

Bars holding Foreign Liquor licenses are allowed to be opened from 10.00 am to 9.00 pm, sellers with retail foreign liquor selling licenses permitted to operate from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm, hotels without Tourist Board approval allowed to open from 10.00 am to 11.00 pm.

All other hotels and restaurants have been allowed to sell liquor between 10.00 am to 12.00 am (midnight).
