Opposition hopeful of getting COPE, COPA chairmanships – Sajith

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa stated that the Opposition and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) most possibly would receive the chairmanships of many major Parliament Committees.

Premadasa pointed out that it is a positive attribute. Accordingly, the Opposition Leader said that he would propose to the government to arrange for the chairmanship of almost all the relevant Committees to be given to the Opposition.

Premadasa noted that ministerial positions are not necessary to build the country or to serve the country. The Committees are a comprehensive method for the Opposition to contribute to the development of the country.

The Opposition Leader made these observations at a discussion held yesterday (15) as a part of the National Programme for Reforms which strives towards a developed Sri Lanka via social reforms. The discussion was held on educational reforms at the Opposition Leader’s Office in Colombo.
