Opposition Leader ready and suitable for Presidency – SJB

Certain political campaigns are trying to project Sajith Premadasa as a leader who cannot take upon the country’s responsibility, which is misleading and incorrect, Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Nalin Bandara said yesterday (12).

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa clearly stated that he is ready to take up the responsibility of our country as the President, he noted.

MP Bandara made these observations at a press briefing held at the SJB head office.

MP Bandara said that Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa who received 5.5 million votes during the previous presidential election is the most suitable person to take up the President post during this crisis period as people have lost all faith in President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. MP Bandara also noted that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa who was portrayed as a giant, turned into a Lilliput to the disappointment of the public.

MP Bandara highlighted the importance of stabilizing the country before trying to implement political agendas.

“Our Opposition Leader clearly stated yesterday that he is ready to take up the responsibility of our country as the President. This was a very responsible statement, unlike others who claim that they would take up the power if given a chance. What our leader is willing to shoulder is a volcano. Some others claim that they are ready to take up the Presidency in an irresponsible manner. We are going to take up a country destroyed by the Rajapaksas. This is not in our political agenda. What we would prefer is to go for an election and establish a strong government with a people’s mandate. However we are moving away from our agenda when we say we are ready to take up the country’s responsibility during this crisis. We are doing this because somebody needs to stabilize this country.” MP Nalin Bandara said.
