Opposition to Jaffna Thahiti Vihara, nine arrested

Nine people, including a lawyer and four women, who participated in the protest led by Member of Parliament   Selvarasa Gajendran demanding the removal of the Vihara illegally set up by the army in the Thahiti area of Jaffna, have been arrested by the Palali police.

Some of his party members, led byMP Selvarasa Gajendran, led a protest a short distance from the Vihara said on Tuesday, demanding the removal of the Thahiti Vihara.

At that time, the police led by the Palali police OIC, who had arrived there asked everyone to disperse from the venue.

In spite of that, they arrested nine people, including a lawyer and four women, on the charge of illegally gathering the people standing there and trying to affect the public peace.
