Over 1,400 kilos of heroin detected from January

Nearly two tonnes of narcotic drugs have been found in countrywide raids from January 1 to November 7 this year.

In 39,671 raids, 39,428 suspects have been arrested in drug detections during the said period.

During this period, 37,819 suspects were arrested with 1,415 kg and 814 grams of heroin in 37,955 raids.

The largest amount of heroin has been seized in joint raids by the Police Narcotics Bureau and the Sri Lanka Navy.39 suspects were arrested with 1,248 kilos and 150 grams of heroin in four such raids.

After that, most heroin detections have been made by police stations across the country. In 36,830 raids conducted at the police station level, the amount of heroin that has been seized is 135 kg and 149 grams.

After that, the largest amount of heroin was seized by the Police Narcotics Bureau. In those 359 raids, 25 kilos and 575 grams of heroin were seized along with 368 suspects. During this time, 370 kilos and 106 grams of cocaine, 103 kilos and 555 grams of ice, and 38 kilos and 194 grams of hashish have been found.

The cache of cocaine was seized with the arrest of 21 suspects in 18 raids.The stock of ice was seized in 7,578 raids and 7,536 suspects were brought to justice.
