Over 1,480 kgs of old newspapers stolen from CMC warehouse

The Wellawatte Police have started an investigation regarding the theft of 1,486 kilos of old newspapers by breaking into a warehouse belonging to the Colombo Municipal Council located in the Wellawatta Manning Market.

The Acting Administrative Officer of the Treasury Department of the Colombo Municipal Council has complained to the Police in this regard on Tuesday (24).

The store was located on the fourth floor of the Manning Market shopping complex.

The theft is suspected to have taken place between last September 6 and October 24. It has been mentioned in the complaint that the value of this stock of newspapers exceeds Rs. three lakhs.
