Over 150 competitors for fencing nationals

The Sri Lanka fencing nationals conducted by the National Association of Fencing Sri Lanka (NAFSL) will be held on December 10 and 11 at the Royal College MAS Arena in Colombo.

Over 150 competitors are set to participate in this year’s event, which will be held after a lapse of two years.

This year’s nationals will be of great significance as the NAFSL has decided to form a national pool in preparation for all international events, scheduled for next year.

The Men’s and Women’s national pool will be set up after considering the performances of the competitors during the National Fencing Championship.

The national pool will include 12 Men and 12 Women with Sri Lanka targeting a medal at the 2023 South Asian Games (SAG) in Lahore, Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the NAFSL have also planned to get two of their coaches to be trained in Hungary and in Thailand in preparation for the SAG.
