Over 30 MPs have placed their trust in Sajith – Maddumabandara

SJB General Secretary Ranjith Maddumabandara said that his party is represented by a 95 per cent of UNP members.”For the first time in history, 95% UNPers are uniting with us,” he said.

Speaking at a ceremony held in Colombo to mark the signing of agreement between the SLFP and SJB, Maddumabandara paid his gratitude to the SLFP for joining the SJB to make the country forward.

“People who care and love the country are uniting with the SJB”, he said.

He further stated, “Over 30 MPs have placed their trust in Sajith Premadasa and have come forward to support him,”

Meanwhile, SLFP General Secretary MP Dayasiri Jayasekara stated that former Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike entrusted the SLFP to Chandrika Bandaranaike in 1994, and she successfully led the party to victory.

“After a decade at the helm, she handed over the party to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Although the party achieved many victories during his tenure, it eventually became a family-run business, prompting party’s General  secretary Maithripala Sirisena to resign and become the President.

He said that the SLFP lacked a leader for over nine years since then.
